Frequent Streams, improvisational performance collective
Together we create performances born from a rehearsal process focused on a series of improvisational approaches and practices which allow compositions of dance and music to evolve as we explore the energetic connections and pathways between body and sound. Our process is supported by somatic meditation, embodiment practices and games which awaken creative instincts through an acknowledgement of the internal landscape. This approach allows the performance to create an energetically tangible atmosphere within which our compositions live. We influence each other, allowing sound to shape the movements of the body and the body to shape the music. The investigative nature and practice of these ideas is a growing system for performance and education with no expiration date.

This project gave artists access to open studio time to develop improvisational performance techniques and creates opportunities for artists to form relationships through practice. The focus on improvisation within the disciplines of dance, music, theatre and social practice were looked at through the lens of improvisation and somatic practice. The focus on research over rehearsal provided endless discovery, the results of which fed back into the ongoing process. Research and development focused on: the energy body, persona development and archetypes in creating character, choreographic scores, transforming hierarchies and cultural habits through movement, body cycles and the natural environment. Critical response at the end of each session was an important part of the process.
